Danielle ‘Gabby’ Akers

2016

Owen County

Danielle “Gabby” Akers, a 32‑year‑old mother of two from Indianapolis, was reported missing after she left home on April 19, 2016. She had told friends she was going to meet an unknown individual at a gas station, but she never returned. Nine days later, on April 28, the Owen County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a deceased person in the Mills Creek area. The body was later identified as Gabby. Gabby was found with no clothes or personal belongings about 60 miles from her home. These circumstances have led her friends and family to believe that foul play may be involved. At the time of her disappearance, Gabby was staying with a man who reportedly knew the area where her body was found, though no suspects have been publicly identified. The Owen County Sheriff’s Department was unable to determine whether her death resulted from an accident or homicide. Additionally, the manner of death officially remains undetermined. Gabby’s case is still open, and investigators continue to accept any information that may help solve this case.
