Darlene Hulse

1984

Marshall County

Darlene Hulse, a 28-year-old mother of three, was living in Argos, Indiana, when she was attacked in her home on the morning of August 17, 1984. Darlene was on her way out the door when a white man forced himself into her home under the guise of a delivery man. She was there alone with her daughters aged six months, eight months, and eleven months. The two older girls fled to a neighbor's house, who called the police. However, by the time Argos Police and Marshall County Sheriff arrived, Darlene was gone, and only her eleven-month-old remained in the house. A search was conducted but yielded no results. Unfortunately, the next day, Darlene was located on Olive Trail between State Rd 110 and 20A Road. Her death was due to blunt force trauma and ruled a homicide. To this day, Darlene’s attacker has never been found despite being described as a white male in his mid- to late 20s, 6 ft-6 ft 2 in., with blonde hair and a long face/nose. Additionally, he was driving a 70s-style 4-door, greenish-colored Pontiac or Oldsmobile. The Indiana State Police Cold Case Unit continues to investigate this case and should be contacted with any information, no matter how small.
