On October 24, 2003, three-year-old Jamie Lynn Marie Gillie of Terre Haute died due to blunt force trauma to the abdomen. The injuries caused an internal infection, which resulted in her death, which was ruled a homicide. At the time her injuries were sustained, Steven Michael Church, her mother’s boyfriend, was the individual caring for her. In the early investigative days, Steven was identified by police as a primary person of interest. However, he has never been formally charged. The case has remained open, and Vigo County investigators believe they know who caused the injuries but that they lack a key piece of evidence.
