Indiana
Marsa Gipson
1991
Putnam County
Marsa Gipson, a 28‑year‑old mother of two from Terre Haute, was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 with her boyfriend during the early morning hours of August 27, 1991, when a rock crashed through their windshield. The two were passing underneath the Manhattan Road overpass in Putnam County at approximately 1:13 am when two large rocks were thrown from above. Sadly, Marsa died, but her boyfriend survived. Witness accounts indicated that two subjects were seen on the overpass at the time of the incident. Investigators later determined this event was not isolated; similar rock‑throwing incidents had been reported in the area, though Marsa’s case was the only one that resulted in a death. Putnam County investigators have stated that they believe they know who committed the crime, but no arrests have been made. The case remains open, and investigators continue to seek out answers.
Any information in the death of Marson Gipson should be directed to the Indiana State Police at (765) 653-4114
