MitV Cold Case Files:
Indiana
Mervin Lehman
1969
LaGrange County
On March 22, 1969, 17-year-old Mervin Lehman was traveling with his nephew, Ernest Lehman, in a horse-drawn buggy on a rural road in LaGrange County, Indiana. As they passed another vehicle, a large rock was thrown from the car and struck Mervin. Upon the buggy’s arrival at the family home, Mervin was rushed to the hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead. Unfortunately at the time of the crime, there were no obvious suspects or leads to pursue, and the case eventually went cold. Several similar instances involving rocks being thrown at individuals in Amish buggies were reported in the area during that same time. The Indiana State Police has recently started to reinvestigate the case and believes any information from the public could be beneficial.
