MitV Cold Case Files:
Illinois
Ryan Riddell & Mark Prasse
2008
Chrisman
Ryan Riddell and Mark Prasse, both 32, were longtime friends of Chrisman, IL. They were known for leading successful, productive lives. Ryan worked as a farmer, while Mark was employed at North American Lighting in nearby Paris. Their routines and close friendship made the events of January 28, 2008, all the more shocking. Investigators established a brief timeline of the hours leading up to the double murder. Ryan picked Mark up from work around 4 pm to attend a meeting in Tuscola. Later that evening, at approximately 7 pm, the men left Ryan’s house in Villa Grove to drop Mark off at home. When Ryan failed to return home for dinner, family members grew concerned and contacted the police to conduct a welfare check. At 10:50 pm, investigators entered Mark’s home, and both were discovered dead from gunshot wounds. The scene indicated a violent, targeted attack, and investigators have stated that they believe the men were intentionally killed. No arrests have been made, and Illinois investigators continue to seek any information that may help identify those responsible.
