Joseph Andrew Spisak

Missing Since 1974

On the freezing morning of Sunday, January 27, 1974, 11 year old Joseph Spisak finished his newspaper route just in time to go to mass. He dropped off his bag at home and headed toward Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Hammond, IN, but he never made it. His mother, Monica, reported him missing when he failed to return home by 5 p.m. for dinner. Investigators initially believed Joseph had run away, but later learned he was last seen around 5 p.m. near railroad tracks in the area. The Hammond Police Department conducted searches and explored multiple theories, but Joseph has never been found. With limited media coverage, the case eventually went cold. Joseph would now be in his 50s, and an age‑progressed image is available through NCMEC.
