Karen Jo Smith

On December 27, 2000, Karen Jo Smith was last seen by her 14 year old son asleep in their living room. Domestic violence had been a recurring part of Karen’s past relationship, and her ex‑husband, Steven Halcomb, had repeatedly threatened to kill her, believing she was responsible for his five‑year drug‑related prison sentence. Although Karen’s body has never been found, Halcomb was convicted of her murder and sentenced to 95 years in prison. Karen’s family has never stopped searching for her remains. They even moved to Kentucky after Halcomb admitted her body was located there. They continue their search in hopes of finally bringing Karen home and laying her to rest.
